September 6th marked the 4th Annual Family Fun Day. Another beautiful day at the Long Island Maritime Museum for families and friends to come together and enjoy some sun, to honor Matthew, and to help us raise funds to continue our work. Despite the hot weather and fall sports schedules, over 300 people came down to enjoy a variety of family friendly activities. It was rewarding to have three of our foundation recipients join us for the day. DJ Louis Albertelli was gracious enough to donate his time and provide music for the event. He also organized some hula hoop contests and other games. Once again, delicious cupcakes were provided to the children with a variety of toppings to decorate and appease that sweet tooth. This year, with the help of Plastered in West Sayville, the children were also able to pick out a ceramic piece to paint and bring home. You could also find children holding a big soccer game out on the lawn, others waiting on line to ride a pony or pet some of the cute animals brought by Lollipop Pony Parties. The Sayville HS Art Honor Society was on hand again to decorate hands and faces of anyone who wanted!

To the delight of many, we had a special guest appearance from the LI Ducks very own Quacker Jack.
If the children were not busy enough, they had the opportunity to play old fashioned carnival games and participate in a Scavenger Hunt that brought them around the entire LI Maritime Museum.
Tina’s Italian Ices brought their Ice truck down to the event this year. We cannot thank them enough for donating all the ices for the day. They provided a needed cold treat to beat the heat!

We had over 100 baskets with gift certificates and goods from local stores and restaurants. This year we had some big ticket items that included Yankee tickets, boys and girls bikes, jewelry, sunglasses and Islanders tickets. Thank you to our 2014 sponsors that helped make the day possible: Kay Cameron Jewelers, CB Sports, Tender Age PT, Blue Point Brewery, J. Kings, Snapper Inn, Irish Coffee Pub, Clare Rose, DJ’s Tents, The Oar, The Brownyard Group, and Great South Bay PC and Fitch Family.
Thank you to your generosity, we collected 20 boxes of books, toys and arts and crafts for children in the hospital. A group of 4th and 5th grade boys from Cherry Avenue School sorted, labelled and boxed the items that were then delivered to Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, Cohen’s Children’s Hospital, and Stonybrook University Hospital. The hospitals were so appreciative for all we do for them every year!

Thank you to all of our sponsors and contributors that allowed us to make our Family Day another huge success.

Here are some pictures from our Casino Night that was held in April. Due to this successful event we are able to continue our mission of helping families provide for their child things that are not covered by insurance. In the past month alone we have provided 2 scholarships for hippotherapy, an adaptive bicycle has been ordered and four applications for assistance are being reviewed! Those pictures to come...see how much fun everyone is having! Plan on coming next year so you don't miss out!! Thank you Amanda Rivera for the pictures!

September 28th marked the 3rd Annual Family Fun Day. A beautiful day at the Long Island Maritime Museum for families and friends to come together and enjoy some sun and to honor Matthew. Despite the busy time of year, over 300 people came down to enjoy a variety of family friendly activities. It was rewarding to have three of our foundation recipients join us for the day. Jon Wilson of Hampton Sounds was gracious enough to donate his time again and provide us with music for the afternoon. Delicious cupcakes were provided to the children with a variety of toppings to decorate and appease that sweet tooth. The children decorated kites and Frisbees to fly around the field. We once again had the talented Sayville HS Art Honor Society beautifully decorating hands and faces of eager children. Lollipop Pony Parties brought some ponies and different animals for all to enjoy.

A fun scavenger hunt was provided for the kids to win a skateboard, rainbow loom, or a jumbo size play ball. Not only did the kids have fun doing the activities and earn tickets for the prizes, they learned about some of Matthew’s favorite things while completing the hunt! If the children were not busy enough, they had the opportunity to play old fashioned carnival games, go down big slides, race in obstacle courses, joust or just bounce to their hearts content.
We were all treated to a surprise that day. The Sayville Senior and Junior Class extended their homecoming parade to the Maritime Museum and marched through for their friends who were volunteering and ‘Mr. Cameron’ could see. What an awesome sight as they marched their floats in chanting ‘Cameron’. Thank you to Doug Shaw for orchestrating this for our family and our community!
We had over 100 baskets with gift certificates and goods from local stores and restaurants. This year we had some big ticket items that included corn hole boards, boys and girls bikes, jewelry, sunglasses and Islanders tickets. Thank you to our 2013 sponsors that helped make the day possible: Kay Cameron Jewelers, CB Sports, Tender Age PT, Blue Point Brewery, J. Kings, Snapper Inn, Irish Coffee Pub, Clare Rose, DJ’s Tents, The Oar, The Brownyard Group, and Great South Bay PC and Fitch Family.
Once again we collected an enormous amount of brand new books. After speaking to the hospitals, we found they receive a lot of donations around the holidays. We will wait until February to make deliveries to Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, Cohen’s Children’s Hospital, and Stonybrook University Hospital when they are once again in need.

What an overwhelming turnout for our First Casino Night Fundraiser! I am pleased to say it was a HUGE success. I thank everyone who helped us make this night amazing! From my end it looked like everyone was having a great time! Thank you again to Bistro 25, Harbor Crab and Blue Point Brewery for donating beer and food! September 22nd was the start of weather woes across Long Island. Somehow the weather stayed clear at the Long Island Maritime Museum and allowed the 2nd Annual Family Fun Day to go on. The winds were strong but the sun came out and allowed over 300 people to enjoy an afternoon of fun. It was also nice to see some of the families that we have donated to come share the day with us! We once again had wonderful raffle prizes donated by the generous merchants of Sayville and the surrounding area. Our wonderful sponsors allowed us to provide an afternoon of horse rides, petting zoo, bounce houses, cupcake decorating, kite making, magic show, and music for our families in attendance. The Forsberg family made “old-fashioned” carnival games for us that we will have for years to come! A special thank you to Hampton Sounds for donating their time to provide us with music. Also thank you to our sponsors- Kay Cameron Jewelers, J.Kings, Tender Age PT, CB Sports, Clare Rose Inc., Blue Point Brewery, Snapper Inn, and Irish Coffee Pub, without their sponsorship, this day would not be possible.

1st Arts and Crafts Drive was a huge success!
Due to the outpouring of so many generous people and organizations, we collected over 2500 arts and crafts items to be delivered to different children's hospitals! We have one more stop to make but everyone has been so appreciative so far. Without support from our friends this would have never been possible so Thank You!

Just wanted to thank everyone who came to our first family fun day. I am sorry I didn't get to sit and talk with many of you for more than a few minutes or even at all. But I saw so many faces there that I was truly amazed, honored and speechless, that so many of you took time out of your Saturday to come and support us! The weather was beautiful and just thought how I have a pretty special angel looking over us! Please check back often to see what wonderful things we are accomplishing with the help from all of you!!
